Tonight at 8 PM, all three major networks -- CBS, NBC and ABC -- will broadcast Stand Up to Cancer, an hour-long entertainment event live from Los Angeles' Kodak Theater created to raise funds for cancer research. It's a rare chance to see stars from the worlds of film, TV, sports, journalism and music come together, all for a wonderful common cause.
According to Entertainment Weekly, so far the event's producers -- including Rob Lowe, Brad Garrett, Mekhi Phifer and Melissa Etheridge -- and many more famous faces are slated to appear, with megastars like Meryl Streep and Scarlett Johansson answering phones. (Do you think for like an extra 20 bucks, Meryl would be willing to answer in an accent?) And the Minneapolis Star-Tribune recently ran the following list of celebs who'll be popping up on screen: Jessica Alba, Lance Armstrong, Halle Berry, Jack Black, Sheryl Crow, Ellen DeGeneres, America Ferrera, Jennifer Garner, Salma Hayek, Diane Keaton, Rob Lowe, Sharon Osbourne, Keanu Reeves, Charlize Theron, Carrie Underwood and Forest Whitaker.
As a show of the networks' quite rare unity, the Stand Up initiative was launched recently by all three networks' news anchors on their respective shows. Watch below for a rare glimpse of Katie Couric, Brian Williams, Charlie Gibson and Harry Smith, all on the same screen!
